Proposals received and funded by the Margaret Hall Foundation have varied greatly, sometimes reflecting the latest trends in the independent school world such as ropes courses, conflict resolution, gender training, development of community service programs, and outfitting classrooms with computers and software.

There also have been unique requests resulting in funding for:

  • an applied science program to design equipment for people with disabilities
  • designing and implementing a course teaching students about the importance of philanthropy
  • an authors' lecture series with readings, discussions, and writing workshops
  • creating a video expressing girls' feelings and experiences about coming of age in the 21st century
  • purchasing "Living Machines" to study fragile ecology systems
  • the development and publication of a booklet, "Putting the Pieces Together, Creating a Culturally Inclusive Educational Environment"
