The Margaret Hall Foundation awarded a total of $123,900 in grants to 11 schools for the 2006-07 school year. The grants range in amounts from $3,500 to $15,300.

The Archer School for Girls, Los Angeles, CA
This grant will support the Archer speaker Series. A well-known author will be invited to speak with the student body and faculty, participate in workshops, and act as a facilitator for classroom learning about his/her discipline.

Boston University Academy, Boston, MA
Boston University received a grant for two "smart classrooms" that will use the Windows Tablet PC program.

Clear Spring School, Eureka Springs, AR
A grant was given to Clear Spring School for an eight day travel school. This "trip will involve preparatory studies, on-trip journaling and discussions, and post-trip summaries."

The David School, David, KY
The David School provides an education for low-income, at-risk Appalachian students. The grant awarded to the David School will help the school work towards accreditation by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).

High Rocks Academy, Hillsboro, WV
High Rocks is a year-round educational program serving three rural West Virginia counties. It is "designed to prepare and motivate girls to succeed in their traditional classroom setting and to push them even further through creative enrichment opportunities." The school received a grant for a summer program exploring nontraditional careers and modes of female leadership.

The June Buchanan School, Pippa Passes, KY
A grant was awarded to the June Buchanan School, a college preparatory school located in the mountains of southeastern Kentucky, for the Caney Honors Achievement Program, which encourages students to continue their education. Juniors and seniors can enroll in up to two college classes per semester at Alice Lloyd College and receive college credit for courses they successfully complete.

National Coalition of Girls' Schools, Concord, MA
A grant was awarded to the National Coalition of Girls' Schools to update and disseminate comprehensive publications, which will include teaching strategies and classroom activities geared towards teaching girls in math, science, technology, and engineering.

St. Mary's Episcopal School, Memphis,TN
St. Mary's received a grant for a Photoshop Lab. This grant "will strengthen the students' skills and help them develop an important and marketable skill that they can use in college, as well as in their professional careers."

The Charles L. Shedd Academy, Mayfield, KY
The Shedd Academy, a school for students with dyslexia and other learning problems, received a grant to develop an educational training program that will be made available to public and private classroom teachers in their own schools or on-site at the Shedd Academy.

The UrbanPromise Academy, Camden, NJ
The UrbanPromise Academy reaches inner-city teens who have either dropped out of high school or are not fulfilling their academic potential. The Academy has been awarded a grant for a new computer and technology center to be used for computer training, research, college readiness exams, and course study and for their summer science camp.

Westover School, Middlebury, CT
The Westover School was awarded a grant to participate in Project Oceanology. The students will study the biodiversity and environmental conditions of Long Island Sound..
